this album took four almost five years to make, and I've written so much – at least, over one thousand and six hundred songs, spending days upon months sorting and picking through them. from what I had thought that I wanted originally, to a total different perspective creatively, this has been a long awaited and patient journey that has finally flourished from the palm of my hands, and my only piece of recording equipment, my iphone; to you. the thing that I love most about this album is that it is an entirely alternated sound than my debut, being drastically based on a sadder slower sensual vibe than previously. It is filled with energies of heartbreak and recovery, trauma and healing, self-loathing and positive reflection, just a trainwreck full of push and pull. unlike HEADACHE. where I had once centered meditative and visual pieces with less stress, TENSIONS. is the complete opposite; tracks bounce back to back without hesitations of silence, there are no interludes, and everything gives space and time to think // feel // touch. getting my depressive and weighing emotions out with this project was a great outlet of therapy, and I think that it's amazing to have experienced such vital situations that formed growth for myself throughout these trying times, that we have all been through these last couple of years. after all that has been written and recorded from the past three years, I wrote newer songs in the last year prior.. and just right before the release of this project, just to give the album some sort of prevalence and maybe some of you can relate to these stories, skip and hop around them, drive late night to them, smoke or drink to them, meditate to them, fuck to them; or whatever you do.. I thank you for giving my songs a chance, and exploring these ventures with me as always, thank you to the lovely producers and my friends, features + close ones who have helped inspire me to make this album, who have partaken in the making of this album (artworks and vocals galore), and those who have been the motivation for me to continue writing, after all of this time. you are on my mind, and I love you. Xx.
